Founded in 1896 by José Ruiz-Berdejo, Bodegas Lustau began as a wine merchant, producing wines for major export-oriented wineries. In 1945, it experienced a significant boost thanks to the founder’s son-in-law, Emilio Lustau, who began marketing wines and brandies under the company’s own brand and laid the foundations for its international expansion. Since 1990, it has been part of the Luis Caballero group, a move that bolstered its growth and profile. It is currently based in a complex of 19th-century cathedral-style cellars on Calle Arcos, where some of the appellation’s most renowned soleras are aged.
