Jerez Cathedral

_Puntos de Interés

The Jerez Cathedral, dedicated to San Salvador, is one of the most impressive churches in Andalusia. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries alongside the former Great Mosque, it combines Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles in an ensemble of extraordinary harmony. Its central dome, visible from numerous points across the city, is one of the most recognisable symbols of the Jerez skyline. Inside, the Cristo de la Viga, a Gothic work from the 16th century, and the canvas of the Virgin as a Child by Francisco de Zurbarán from the 17th century stand out.

The Cathedral, an episcopal see since 1980, represents the union of art, faith, and monumentality, and is an essential stop for understanding the religious history of the city.
