The city of Jerez and its Racing Circuit provide a meeting point and inescapable date on the calendar of every motorcycle enthusiast, that of the Spanish MotoGP, during which time the city becomes the centre of the motorcycle world.

For a few days during the month of April or May, the Jerez Ángel Nieto Racing Circuit provides the venue for a race that counts towards the Moto GP World Championship.

The Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix was held on the Jerez Circuit for the first time in 1987. Since then the event has been held every year to the delight of motorcycle enthusiasts and is considered one of the most prestigious competitions on the racing calendar in terms of attendance figures, media coverage and successful organization.
