The winery has its origins in 1850 as Pilar Aranda Winery, whose soleras date back to 1730. Pilar Aranda was the first female winery owner in the Marco de Jerez and the first woman to be elected Honorary Capataz of the Vendimia Festival. In 1998, Álvaro Domecq Romero, a rejoneador born in Jerez, took over the winery and incorporated his name into the brand. The wines are produced from the ancient soleras of the Aranda family, considered the oldest almacenista winery in the Marco. The winery is part of Terraselecta, a company that works with wineries from the principal Spanish wine regions under criteria of terroir and native varieties.
