Founded in 1876 by the Díez and Pérez de Muñoz brothers as Díez Hermanos, King Alfonso XII granted them the title of Supplier to the Royal Household, with the right to use the Royal Coat of Arms on their labels and invoices. In 1979 they merged with Marqués del Mérito Winery, and in 1981, it incorporated historic brands such as Pemartín, Bertola, and the Otaola liqueurs. Since 2016, the winery has been owned by the Jerez-based Espinosa family, who have led a new phase in its development.
The winery preserves one of Jerez's most iconic historic wine buildings: Bodega Bertemati, dating from 1770, distinguished by its vaulted structure and elegant arcades, and historically associated with the Marqués de Misa. Within its walls, wines continue to mature in American oak casks using the traditional criaderas and solera ageing system.
