The palace was built in the 17^th century and stands in the grounds of the Alcázar Monumental Complex, upon the Almohad foundations of a palace that existed there before.

One curiosity is that in one of its rooms has been reconstructed and conserved intact what has been saved of the 19^th century Municipal Farmacy. The palace is one of the most outstanding attractions of the city and a venue for exhibitions and cultural events. Its gardens and halls host the bi-annual International Nobel Wine Fair, “Vinoble”. The Camera Obscura is located on the top floor of the palace and offers visitors a panoramic view of the city “in real time”.
