Semana Santa in Jerez
From 24nd to 31th March 2024
Declared of National Tourist Interest, Semana Santa in Jerez is an event of religious, social and cultural character that commemorates the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ. It takes place annually in Easter week, beginning the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon.
Semana Santa is one of the great Spring festivities in the city. Around five hundred hermandades, or brotherhoods, walk in procession through the city streets and display their rich cultural historic and artistic heritage. The most renowned sculptors and wood carvers of religious images, silversmiths and embroiderers of past centuries have all contributed to the grandeur of these processions, leaving an outstanding legacy. Its artistic heritage, the large number of brotherhoods, second only to Seville, and the unique flamenco saeta, the flamenco rhythm of Semana Santa in Jerez, all combine to make it one of the most relevant in Andalusia and all Spain.
